CAR-T and TCR-T are two types of T-cell therapies used in cancer treatment. The key difference between the two is the type of modification made on the receptors to recognize a foreign cell. CAR-T cells identify surface antigens and initiate the immune response, while TCR-T cells identify MHC bound cells to initiate the immune response.
CAR-T cells have receptors that target naturally occurring antigens on the surface of cancer cells, while TCR-T cells have receptors that target both cell surface antigens and intracellular antigens. This makes TCR-T cells more effective in tumor treatment. However, CAR-T cells have shown great therapy outcomes in the treatment of hematological cancers. Both types of therapies are still being actively researched and developed for various types of cancers.
